The Naughty Volvo Tour is coming to launch the all new 2011 Volvo S60. The Naughty Volvo Tour, which will be coming to our Essex County NJ Volvo dealership and will also stop at around 150 Volvo retailers across the U.S. and in Canada. The tour kicked off on July 6 in Cranston, R.I., Tulsa, Okla. and Tucson, Ariz., and will conclude in the fall. NJ Volvo S60 enthusiasts need not worry, Prestige Volvo is a sure stop!

Touted “the sportiest Volvo ever,” the All-New Volvo S60 is equipped with a turbocharged T6 engine, which puts out 300 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque, and comes standard with all-wheel-drive.  Its breathtaking new design captures the imagination and sets the heart racing like no other Volvo sedan, with the C-pillar stretching sensually all the way to the taillights – giving the impression of a 4-door coupe.

The All-New Volvo S60 is also available with Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake, a groundbreaking technological solution that actively helps the driver avoid accidents.  Volvo’s radar- and camera-based system can detect pedestrians in front of the car, warn the driver if someone walks out into its path, and then automatically activate the S60’s full braking power if the driver fails to respond in time.

The Naughty Volvo Tour is a series of retailer-hosted experiential events, which allow attendees to preview the All-New Volvo S60 before it goes on sale.  Utilizing multimedia interactive displays to emphasize the car’s design, performance and safety attributes will heighten the sensory experience.  Demonstrations of the Pedestrian Detection system in action will also be available.

The all new 2012 S60’s range-topping engine will be a a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine good for a healthy 304 horsepower, and mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. A direct-injected, turbocharged gasoline 2.0-liter four-cylinder will also almost certainly come to North America, producing 203 horsepower and available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. A hybrid is also in the works.

What Some Have Observed:

Motor Authority reports: “At first glance, the new S60 features definite coupe-like proportions, accompanied by strong shoulders, which together give it a look that is very similar to the design of the Jaguar XF.   There are, however, plenty of unique elements such as the traditional Volvo grille and sculptured headlamps that will help the car battle it out in one of the industry’s toughest segments.”

Jalopnik reports, “In the engine compartment, the 2012 S60 range will, from launch, be available with a choice of two diesels and one gas engine.” The diesel editions are most likely headed for the European market.  The gasoline edition may be the only version to reach our shores.

It’s “an uprated high-performance 3.0-liter T6 gas engine (a Ford short inline-six) rated at 304bhp,” according to Jalopnik.  A six-speed automatic transmission will be the only one offered.  The first S60 models to reach U.S. dealerships will be all-wheel drive, though a front-wheel-drive variant is expected.

Edmunds Inside Line adds, “Volvo, of course, never forgets its roots, so the 2012 Volvo S60 will also show off the company’s latest bit of safety technology, Pedestrian Detection with full auto brake. This is an enhancement of the City Safety collision avoidance system in current cars and employs a front-grille-mounted radar unit and a mirror-mounted camera to detect pedestrians over 31 inches tall.”
